1967 Oldsmobile 442, 12,000 original miles, excellent unrestored example
When you set your mind to looking for an unrestored collectible car, what you expect is a car that has been well maintained and cared for its entire life. This example was ordered new by Lenny Fitch and he never let it leave his possession. Lenny painstakingly documented every oil change, chassis lube, tire rotation, and an exhaust system replacement, from day one until his last entry 8/13/1977 with 11,908 miles on the car. He saved all the original paperwork from the order sheets, original window sticker, Protect-O-Plate, finance contract, insurance paperwork, receipt for deposit, sales brochure, cloth for the windshield, radio tag, Posi-traction tag and Owner's Manual.
Lenny even ordered personal plates every year so everyone would know "L 442 F" was his car. During his ownership, Lenny added some “Day Two” accessories that can be easily removed but are also part of the car's history. Among these are mods common to the era an array of under dash gauges and an electric fuel pump (that has been since removed, the toggle switch is still in the dash). The car remained in the Fitch family until 2007.
In January of 2007, Lenny's wife sold the car after safely storing the car for nearly 30 years. The second owner set himself to the task of making the car roadworthy. The gas tank has been replaced with a new one, the hood insulation has been replaced and the original wheels, repainted. The car is otherwise as Lenny left it in 1977.
The current owner has been its caretaker since 2009. Mechanically, the car runs like new, everything works, the brakes are great, the transmission shifts firmly. The car currently rides on an alternate set of wheels and tires with radial red lines to protect the factory issued set. The Original Wheels and Tires are available for sale upon request. This 1967 Oldsmobile 442 remains an excellent unrestored example, still showing 12,323 original miles. The exterior is nearly flawless, and the interior is in near perfect condition, still has that signature GM “original car smell” that you just can't duplicate in a restored example.
