• 100% Numbers Matching, Original Drivetrain

• Documented by Original Bill of Sale, Window Sticker, and Broadcast Sheet
• Freshly Restored in 2019
The Road Runner was the fun, youth oriented version of Mopar's ever-popular B-Body. It was not common to find a convertible, or one that was well optioned as this one. It is equipped with its original 383 cubic inch 4bbl engine, 727 Torqueflite Transmission, and Extra Heavy-Duty Handling Package. Creature comforts like Light Package, Power Front Disc Brakes, Tinted Windshield, Undercoating and Hood Insulator Pad, and larger F60x15 wheel and tire package. The Light Package includes fender mounted turn signals, trunk light, glove box light, ash tray light, and time delay ignition light. The color Combo is a striking one, F8 Green with white interior.
The original owner bought this one new during a year end clearance sale in November of 1970. He drove the car until 1981, clocking 48,000 miles on the odometer, but never during Winter- not even when new. He kept the car largely original and even kept a logbook fuel fill-ups and oil changes. It shows only 64, 795 miles today and freshly restored in 2019.
The car has extensive owner history, going back to new. In addition to being 100% original drivetrain, it also wears all its original sheet metal. Documentation includes the original window sticker, original warranty card, and broadcast sheet. When it comes to buying something that is fun, road ready, well restored, and collector quality, it really doesn't get any better than this.
EXTERIOR
Still wearing 100% original sheet metal, the car was painted back to its original factory F8 Dark Green Metallic in 2018 using PPG base coat/clear coat. The gold flake drinks in the sun, making the whole car glow underneath a blue sky. All of the glass, windshield, back light, door glass, quarter window glass, is all original. The only other deviation from factory is the inclusion of the N96 “Air Grabber” hood. Again, who can blame him? We love it to!
The black top ties in nicely with the black trunk stripe. The power top operates effortlessly and seals tight as a drum. When the car was restored, the new owner added the iconic Road Runner “Dust Trail”. We would have done the same. Look carefully, this is may be one of the few,, perhaps only, time you see dust trails laid out and installed correctly on a 1970 Road Runner. Chrome bumpers, stainless bright work, and bezels are in excellent condition. The car sits on factory correct reproduction F60-145 Polyglas tires and 450 wheels.
Overall fit and finish is outstanding. Gaps are even and uniform, consistent with and in most all areas, superior to original factory tolerances.
INTERIOR
The interior was likewise treated to a restoration. What was original and in excellent condition was retained. The dash is original. The door panels are original. The seat covers and remaining soft trim are factory stock specification by Legendary Auto Interior. All lighting, gauges, and accessories work, including the door buzzer and of course the "Voice of the Road Runner" horn.
ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN
The professionally rebuilt motor was port-matched, balanced, and blue printed- making 335 horsepower and a whopping 425 pound feet of torque, all while remaining stock appearing (Edelbrock 800cfm carb aside), running on regular pump gas. The 727 Torqueflight was also rebuilt. The exhaust is high-flow TTI, manifolds- factory original. The engine is the original, numbers matching unit according to the independent 3rd party inspector, as are the transmission and 3.91 Sure Grip rear end. The mechanical portion of the inspection revealed no shortcomings. Everything operates as originally intended. The car runs and drives like new.
CHASSIS/UNDERCARRAIGE
The frame, floorboards, trunk drops, inner fender wheels, etc. are all original. This was an original factory undercoat car and that is how it remains. The underbody is clean and crisp. Suspension components are fully restored with OEM finishes. All brake lines and e-brake cables, fuel lines, and tank are also factory correct and new. The same is the case for all fasteners and bushings. For a car that is meant to be driven and enjoyed, you won't find a cleaner undercarriage.
