1970 Mercury Cougar XR-7 428 Cobra Jet, 4spd RAM AIR Convertible!
Very rare and very right, this is one bad cat. Only 66 428 Cobra Jet XR-7 Convertibles were ever made, and only 17 came equipped with a 4spd manual transmission. This 1970 Mercury Cougar XR-7 428 Cobra Jet 4spd convertible is one of only TWO finished in beautiful Competition Blue and the only one of the pair to be trimmed out in black leather. In addition to leather, she is optioned to the hilt with the following:
* Ram Air Induction
* Four-Speed Close Ratio Manual Transmission
* Black Power Top w/ Glass Blacklight
* Console
* Power Front Disc Brakes
* Power Steering
* Rim Blow Steering Wheel
* Tinted Glass
* and more...
She was built on January 15th, 1970 and sold new to Astro Lincoln-Mercury of Pensacola, Florida. The original owner is unknown. From August of 1979 until this year the car was owned by the same family. Along with it, a rich history of how this Cougar was enjoyed and celebrated over the last 40+ years. In addition to an extensive owner history, pedigree is further bolstered by her original Build Sheet and Elite Marti Report.
The restoration of this fine example was completed in fall of 2015. In near #1 condition, this stunner will turn heads and attract crowds wherever it is shown.
