1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440 – Original, Restored, Hollywood History
This 1968 Dodge Charger R/T has been in the care of the same owner for 20 years, having purchased it from the original owner. This beautifully executed rotisserie restoration began with a clean original car showing 29,000 actual miles and featuring a fresh, zero-mile drivetrain. The car remains true to its factory roots with smart upgrades that enhance performance and reliability.
The car is finished in the factory correct TT1, Medium Green Metallic, the restorer opting to leave the vinyl roof off for a cleaner profile. The white "Bumble Bee" stripe was added, perfectly setting off the dark emerald hue. On both counts, we're glad he did. This Charger looks mean and drives even better.
Under the hood, you'll find the original 440 backed by the original 727 Torque-Flite automatic transmission. Fuel delivery comes through an Edelbrock carb. The OEM bump stick was set aside for the legendary Mopar Purple cam. The original A/C system was swapped out for a Vintage Air setup that works like you want it to. The whole thing is kept cool by a correct '956' HEMI spec 26" radiator.
Born with 14" Road Wheels riding on Red Streaks, this Charger rolls on 17-inch Magnum-style wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich G-Force Comp-2 275/40R17s, giving it the right stance and grip without straying far from its classic look. Stopping comes courtesy of power front disc brakes and heavy duty drums out back.
As a bonus for movie buffs: this car appeared in the 1991 film RUSH starring Jason Patric and Sam Elliot. It's currently located in Texas. According to the owner, car's Fender Tag is original and all the numbers, body and drive train, match.
If you are looking for a car that looks highly original, appears to be nearly new, and has been tastefully updated to be turn-key and hassle free, this is the Charger R/T for you.
