1956 Chevy 210 Sedan 2-door Pro-Touring Custom
Liquid Silver over Pepper Grey Metallic wearing all the classic “'Tri-Five” lines, this '56 Chevy is the result of a connoisseur's understanding of the iconic Tri-Five's history and pro-touring build philosophy. This build, named “Swivel Hips”, perfectly straddles the classic look of the chrome and fin era and the clean execution of a well-balanced long haul grand touring machine.
Factory lines are tastefully accentuated by practical updates, like the C5 Corvette style sideview mirrors with integrated turn signal lights and third brake light frenched into the rear package tray. The chromed horizontal bar grill, hidden taillight fuel fill, polished American Racing Torque Thrust II rims, and chrome exhaust dumps all serve to cut a tone of understated elegance. It doesn't need to scream “look at me”, you know you already are. This '56 Chevy carries itself with classic confidence.
The power is palpable, 447 horsepower produced by an Offenhauser inspired triple-deuce setup piped through a 700R4 Transmission. All of it backed by a Strange equipped Ford 8.8" 3.55:1 Traction-Lok rearend. You'd think that isn't much but looks can be deceiving.
A 1956 2-door post car is a more structurally rigid and lighter compared to the Bel Air hardtop, weighing in at a mere 3,177 lbs. As a reference, a 2024 Camaro SS Automatic equipped with a 6.2L V8 tips the scales at 3,760 lbs and makes 455 horsepower. Do the math and each horse made by the '24 Camaro SS carries 8.26 pounds. This '56 Chevy moves 7 pounds of car per horsepower. A brand-new Porsche 911 Carrera S power to weight ratio is also 7lbs/hp. This pro-touring '56 Chevy is fast.
Of course, this car doesn't handle like a Porsche. It does hold the road like a great American Grand Touring sedan. Which is what it is supposed to be. The low RPM Torque throws you back in your seat and squeals those tires while the suspension inflicts a commanding hold on the road. This mission is accomplished by Bilstein shocks on all fours, custom tubular lower control arms with coils up front and leaf springs out back, front and rear control arms stiffened by polyurethane bushings. The power steering is on center tight and right with just the right amount of linear resistance lock to lock. Wilwood power disc brakes on all fours make for zero drama and 100% grip, even under emergency maneuvers. Built for the long haul and 6,500 proven miles on the clock, this is American Cruiser comfort - smooth, stable while feedback is calm but clear. Whether you are heading out on the Interstate or carving out a canyon, this '56 is point and shoot while still feeling relaxed. Road noise is well isolated while road feel communicates firmly and freely.
The professionally built Small Block Chevrolet 355 stroker, with an Edelbrock Three-Deuce Intake Manifolds 5419, with Rochester 2bl Carburetors takes center stage in the roomy engine bay of the '56 Chevy. The custom Bowtie battery with integrated cutoff switch perches on the firewall, a balcony box overlooking the action. Cool running A/C, clean layout with billet accessory drive, black CHEVROLET Aluminum valve covers, billet wire looms, and low-profile open element air cleaner, and “Chevrolet” in classic script call out emblazoned on the radiator support all communicate common intent. This place is beautiful, all business, and business is good.
Everything is new, modern, and looks right at home in the Space Age interior design. The factory gauge pod is outfitted with digital analogue VDO gauges, needles with a seamless sweep and digital readouts for telematics. The chrome billet banjo steering wheel mounts to a chrome tilt steering column. The Push Button Start keeps the fob in your pocket. Chrome Vintage Air climate controls frame center of the dash. The hand built overhead console houses power window switchgear, and a Bluetooth equipped Kenwood Stereo head unit. Front seats are 70/30 Split Bench with fold down arm rest- so you can have your choice of Captains Chair or Honey Slide seating. This is the command center for mission Interstate.
Turn up the Vintage Air, set the Cruise Control and find the right song on the Bluetooth equipped Kenwood or hammer down and let the high flow dual exhaust do all the talking, this Custom Chevy takes all that power and control and turns it into the comfortable conquest of the road you crave.
