1996 Dodge Viper GTS 9,653 original miles
There is no doubt that the Gen II Viper GTS is an American Performance Icon. 1996 was the first year for significant improvement to the iconic Viper, adding comfort features and more power. Dodge further refined the car overall with upgraded suspension, brakes and safety features. Only 1,166 GTS's were made by mother Mopar that year. Very few them have been kept under 10,000 miles on the odometer and in such excellent condition as this. The current owner purchased it from the first owner in 2001 when it had fewer than 5,000 miles. Since then, it has been driven about 4,600 miles, impeccably maintained, and stored in a climate controlled private collection.
The overall condition of this Viper is excellent, a private museum piece. The exterior paint, body, and glass are in excellent and like new condition. The car runs and drives like new and is impeccably maintained. The car is well documented by a factory window sticker and more. If you are looking for a collector quality Viper GTS that you can also drive and enjoy on occasion, this is it. This is a private party sale no auction commission, buyer's premium, or dealer's sales tax.
Exterior Condition
The Viper's exterior and one year only Blue Pearl finish present as new, with only very minor scratches under the front ship spoiler area not easily visible without a very close inspection. These are typical even on the lowest mileage examples of the low-slung Viper GTS. Paint finish is well cared for and appears new. All trim and fittings are as new as well. A virtually new, private collection car with very little use.
Engine Bay Condition
Concurrent with the car's limited use and private display duties, the engine bay and drivetrain are in new condition and virtually flawless. The bone stock 8.0L V-10 and 6-speed manual operate as new. Proper storage and care have been part of the Viper's ownership since new and has resulted in no deterioration to the car's mechanical components or systems.
Interior Condition
Interior condition is unchanged from new, with only one very minor seat bolster wear on the outside of the driver's seat. If you've owned a GTS before, you know this is typical and easily refurbished. Aside from that, all interior fittings, materials and surfaces are showroom condition. A change to the Viper for this second generation was that most previous options were now standard, and this car is therefore very well equipped for creature comfort as well as road pounding performance.
Chassis and Undercarriage Condition
Chassis and undercarriage are likewise clean and neat, evident that the car has been driven on dry days and warm weather only. Overall, the under body shows very little evidence of road use. The car has been well cared for and displayed with proper storage protocols to prevent any degradation to age or use.
Collectability
The Dodge Viper is a landmark modern performance car that harkens back to the visceral driving experience of the muscle car era with its huge power and torque output and relatively little driver aids for traction and road-holding. It is a true driver's car with world class performance in a unique sporting package. Vipers are significant for their straightforward power and speed capabilities during a time when automakers were looking for ways to refine their performance cars with technology. The Viper is unique in its time and therefore is showing strong collectability and investment qualities. This Viper is indicative of a low mileage modern collectible performance car with very low miles since new. The car remains as delivered and presents as very close to a brand-new car. Documentation includes factory documentation including the factory window sticker.
