1966 Dodge Coronet R/T SE, 440 Magnum/425 Horsepower, Factory Triple Black
First generation B-Body's have been enjoying a resurgence of popularity in the past few years. This 1966 Dodge Coronet 440 as never been out of fashion. The owner history goes clear back to new, with the original broadcast sheet and Certi-card made out to on Roy Charles Ingle of Newton, North Carolina. That ownership trail continues with vehicle registration for Mr. Ingle ranging from 1968 to 1992. It is evident that the car was well loved.
Fast forward to circa 2014, after living life as a pampered triple black 318 powered factory original vehicle, this Coronet 440 was rotisserie restored and customized by Dan Goodwin of The Hot Rod Shop. Custom touches include upgrading the interior and exterior trim to R/T specifications and adding the Special Edition "SE" package, each not available until the '67 model year.
The factory 4-speed transmission was retained and rebuilt to handle the horsepower provided by the pro-built 440 Cubic Inch engine. Richard Petty's shop built the motor which dynoed at 425 horsepower. An 8 3/4 SureGrip Rear loaded with 3.55:1 gears puts all that power to the pavement. There is no use for power without control, so Dan made sure that all four corners were endowed with disc brakes. This Coronet stops on every dime it finds. Chrome Magnum rims wrapped in Redline tires rounds out the package.
This Triple-Black beast represents the best of both worlds- well taken care of in its early life, professionally rebuilt in its current form, and always desirably optioned. The car sill retains its original Certicard, original Broadcast Sheet, and extensive owner history including decades of owner registrations.
