2008 Ford Mustang Roush 427-R Roadster
Ingrained in the history of the iconic pony car are a few notable independent companies dedicated to extracting the most performance possible out of the Ford Mustang. Among them is Roush Performance, founded by American racing driver and engineer Jack Roush, who began modifying factory-born Mustangs in several limited editions in 1995. In 2007, Roush introduced the 427R, named after the cubic-inch displacement of one of the highest-output V8s ever offered in a production Mustang which produced 390 horsepower in 1968. Based on the fifth generation Mustang GT (2005-2014), the 427R package added an intercooled ROUSHcharger system for an additional 135 horsepower and 65 lb-ft of torque from the standard GT's 4.6-liter modular V8, bringing the 427R's total output to 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Complementing the 427R's impressive performance figures were a unique four-piece aero kit, 18-inch Roush cast chrome wheels, and a special striping kit among other modifications. These upgraded Coupes and Convertibles were produced in low numbers and build on the GT's already impressive performance, offering no shortage of noise and fun.
